Introduction
Edavaka Mission is the local unit in each parish that coordinates and engages members in gospel outreach and prayer services, operating under Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelists' Association (MTVEA), established in 1924, is an official organization of the Mar Thoma Church. Its roots trace back to the church's reformation, which sparked a growing desire for group prayer and Bible study led by Rev. C.P. Abraham Kassissa, the first prayer meeting took place in Chayal Mar Thoma Church, Ayroor, followed by monthly gatherings. The association was officially named during an annual meeting chaired by the Most Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Thoma, with key figures like Rev. C.P. Philipose Kassissa, Sri. Moothampakkal Kochukunju Upadesi, and Sri. Kolakottu C.J. John playing pivotal roles in its formation. From the beginning, it has been a fellowship of believers dedicated to spreading God's word selflessly.
Membership
Edavaka Mission is a community of dedicated believers who willingly serve in God’s vineyard without seeking financial gain or personal benefit. Membership is open to all parish members who are committed to witnessing Christ in their daily lives and contributing to the mission of the church.
Aim
Edavaka Mission follows the mandate of Jesus Christ: “You will be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8). Its core mission is to encourage individuals to live out their Christian faith by sharing the message of Christ in their daily lives, thereby fulfilling Jesus' mission in our community.
Our Mission
Edavaka Mission is to inspire and equip believers to be active witnesses of Jesus Christ in every sphere of life. Through fellowship, prayer, and service, members are empowered to reflect Christ’s love and truth in their homes, workplaces, and communities, bringing people closer to the gospel.
Activities
Edavaka Mission follows a seven-point program: intercession, Bible study, sharing personal faith experiences, visiting homes, serving the sick and needy, conducting prayer meetings, and sharing the gospel with other people.
